Learning Outcomes

Principal Learning Outcome 4

Describe the function of the liver, adipose tissue, and other metabolic tissues in retaining homeostasis through hormonal and neural regulation.

After this lecture, you should be able to:

  1. Describe absorption of carbohydrates, proteins and lipids

  2. Describe the role of the gut microbiome

  3. Describe and understand the endocrine roles of the pancreas

  4. Understand how (cell-specific) metabolic pathways relate to physiological function of organs and tissues.

  5. Understand how adipose tissue (white and brown) contribute to energy homeostasis.
